The Book of Maren. 1:1

God doesn't send you the people you want, He sends you the people you need, too love you, too hurt you, and to teach you to be the person He wants you to be.

I have something to say that the government will not listen to. I don't believe the papers would print it either so I am going to explain it here in case there is anyone out there who does care. First, I would like you to understand what it is really like to be disabled. Imagine what it would be like to have the flu almost every day for the rest of your life. To go to bed every night feeling sick and wake up every morning feeling worse. To have no sense of accomplishment or purpose because you cannot work. To be bored out of your mind every single day. To feel like a third class citizen and a burden to society. To know you will never own a house or a car or go on a vacation or eat meat or buy new clothes, to literally find your furniture on the street, to never be able to go to a movie, a restaurant, or the mall, to fall in love with someone that is disabled and not be able to live together without having your income cut by 25%, to not be able to have even a used engagement ring, a wedding, or Christmas. Believe me I am grateful that I live in Canada, not Mexico, where I would receive no benefits at all and would literally have to marry or beg on the street to survive. But it seems to me that I am basically just existing, not living at all. Sometimes I feel like I'm not worth much more than a stray dog. I'm supposed to live in a 10' x 10' room with filthy 40 year old carpet and mattress, share a disgusting bathroom with six other people, and stare at the walls all day because, after being an R.N. for fourteen years, I can't afford basic cable. New Brunswick just raised it's social assistance benefits by 80%! The government can afford to raise the standard of living of the disabled in this country if they stop paying 50,000$ for hammers, installing toilets in their limos, and using government planes for their vacations. I am tired of the stress of trying to survive on 7,200$ a year on top of the stress of my illness. Would somebody please help us.
